Fraudulent calls are on the rise. Be cautious if someone calls you on behalf of Česká spořitelna, Česká národní banka or other banks, or on behalf of the Police of the Czech Republic.

The fraudsters are really inventive and persuasive. They give various reasons why you should cooperate with them: for example, opening a personal account or a loan. Other times they try to scare you by warning you about a fraudulent transaction. They claim that the money in your account is at risk and offer protection.

What the scammers may ask you to do

  • to withdraw cash and put it in a "special ATM",
  • to transfer your money to a "safe account",
  • or they may want to know your card security details or bank identity.

What a real banker will never ask you over the phone

  • Your banking identity details - login name, password, George key PIN,
  • Stay calm and listen carefully to what the caller is telling you.
  • Make sure you don't give them any security details (login password, full card number, full activation code).
  • Watch carefully what you confirm in George Key or by text message - if you are transferring money from your account instead of blocking or verifying.
  • When in any doubt, end the call and call our hotline at 800 207 207 right away. Do not call back the number from which the potential scammer called you.
  • If you use the George Key app, use the bank's call verification option. your full credit card number, any code you print out from an ATM or receive in a text message,
  • to withdraw cash from a branch and deposit it into a secure account,
  • to transfer money to someone else's safe account,
  • to install a program/app on your device.
